Look, choosing a blog niche can be challenging and stressful. Been there, done that. Trust me, I’m glad it’s over with.

Now before you get all stressed out and start thinking, “why is she adding more options into the mix when I’m already having trouble choosing from the topics I already have? Or “What is a lifestyle blog?” Stick around and find out. I promise there is always a method to my madness.

Let’s begin!

What is a Lifestyle Blog?

Lifestyle blogging

What is a lifestyle blog, you might ask? Well, for starters, there is technically no shared definition of what a lifestyle blog is.

However, simply put, a lifestyle blog is where people regularly write about different aspects of their life through multimedia!

Lifestyle blogs are very general because they touch on many different subjects such as fashion, motherhood, travel cooking, etc. (you get the point).

An excellent way to think of a lifestyle blog is like a magazine. How? Well, lifestyle blogs have beautiful professional photos and a writer that recommends products and services in different subjects –much like a magazine!

Seems easy enough, right? It is! If you are having trouble picking one niche when you are first starting a blog, you should try out a lifestyle blog!

That way, you can keep the flexibility of writing on different topics that interest you in your everyday life!

How are Lifestyle Blogs Different Than Other Blogs?

Now that we covered the burning question of what is a lifestyle blog? I should probably inform you that lifestyle blogs are different from other blogs out for a couple of reasons. Let’s get to it, shall we?

1. A lifestyle blog is not a personal blog

Contrary to popular belief, a lifestyle blog isn’t anywhere close to being a personal blog. And while many lifestyle bloggers still manage to sprinkle posts of their personal lives here and there.

The good majority of their blog is tailored towards interests and activities that are somewhat sponsored and are more so focused on attracting a specific type of audience rather than being personal and full of emotional storytelling.

2. Lifestyle blogs may start out as niche blogs

This is a no brainer. It’s a heck of a lot easier to gain a blogging audience’s attention when you focus on one topic in your niche to begin with.

Many now, lifestyle bloggers actually started out as a niche related blog before venturing into the lifestyle niche. For example, you might start a blog about fitness and later add in weight loss and travel topics.

3. There are no rules for lifestyle blogging

When it comes to lifestyle blogging, there are no rules! Besides, rules are meant to be broken from time to time!

And although I don’t recommend talking about 10+ topics, pick a couple issues that you are knowledgeable in and that are semi relatable to each other or not related at all!

The choice is yours! Just make sure you can produce high-quality content and get posting

So, here are a couple reasons that come to mind as to why you should get started today!

Suppose you want to create a blog but don’t feel confident in sharing your personal life to an audience instead of focusing on general topics. In that case, a lifestyle blog is your best bet!

Another great reason to start a lifestyle blog in 2020 is that it is a great way to try different products, services, and activities you would not necessarily try before!

A right way of looking at it is that because lifestyle bloggers tailor their content to what their audience wants to know, it’s a great way to step out of your comfort zone and essentially become the guinea pig for others lol.

And while we’re on the topic of why you should start a lifestyle blog, I should probably mention that lifestyle bloggers make BIG money through brand deals, affiliate marketing, and AdSense marketing strategies.

It is also a great way to promote your own products and services!

The right way of looking at lifestyle bloggers is as influencers. And in today’s world of social media, influencers are widely successful.

How To Start A Lifestyle Blog?

Okay, we’ve covered our initial question of what is a lifestyle blog? The difference between a niche blog and a lifestyle blog and why you should start your own lifestyle blog.

If you’ve made it this far and I’ve finally convinced you to create your own lifestyle blog, keep reading because I’m going to break down each step of the process for you.

Choose a domain name

Once you’ve committed yourself to start a lifestyle blog, the next step you will need to take is choosing a domain name!

Choosing a domain name is so much fun because you can be as creative as you want with it! Just make sure that the name of your blog reflects what your blog is going to be about.

It’s best to keep your domain name short and sweet and be easy to spell and read aloud.

For example, “Life of X” or “A Day in the Life of X.” Before you check to see if your domain name is still available, make sure you are 100% in love with it.

This is not only going to be the name of your blog for the rest of your career as a blogger, but it is also a pre-determining factor in how your blog’s success!

You’re building a brand. So, make sure it reflects who you are entirely.
